Tell us the founding story of C3 Documentation Services Pvt.Ltd.? What motivated you to start as a company in the SEO space?
We are among the India’s upcoming providers of SEO services. Although C3 Documentation Services launched operations just a few years ago, we have managed to build an impressive client base that consists of close to hundred clients from different parts of the India.
If you look up the words Search Engine Optimization on Google today, you’ll get about 60 million results. Searching the acronym SEO on the giant search engine will give you more than 441 million results. What can you learn from the two examples?
The answer is simple. There is significant interest in the subject of search engine optimization, and that’s why so much has been written about it.
There are several factors that motivated us to start a company in the SEO space. We carried out extensive research and discovered that organic SEO is still among the most effective marketing techniques. It has been working for a number of years, and the strategy will still be effective many years from today. Search engine optimization offers great return on investment (ROI) and is therefore cost-effective.
Search engines continue to grab more market share. As a matter of fact, about 85% of customers check online reviews before making purchase decisions. In the last few years, there has been tremendous increase in local search optimization as well as mobile bandwidth. Businesses and other non-profit organizations have discovered that unhealthy content profiles can have disastrous effects. Lastly, there were so many reputable companies that were venturing into the SEO space, and we didn't want to miss out on what those highly regarded companies were going after.

Established in 2012 with an alternate rationality that dependably concentrates on its endeavors and nature of work rather than advertising, how has the journey been? Were there any initial setbacks. If yes, how did you overcome those challenges?
Honestly, the journey hasn't been easy. Like most other start-up businesses, we experienced our fair share of challenges, but they did not make us relent. If anything, the challenges made us stronger. There were several setbacks at the initial stages, but we managed to overcome them all.
Start-up capital, or lack of it, was a major challenge. Contrary to our expectation, finances from clients and financiers did not smoothly flow in. Cash flow, in particular, was a major setback.
C3 Documentation Services did not invest enough money in sales and marketing, and the neglect had serious consequences. We assumed, and wrongly so, that sales would organically grow.
Poor planning was also another setback. Even though a great plan was already in place before launching operations, the master plan didn't cover all the bases. We discovered that indeed the devil usually hides the details.
Other challenges that we faced were; finding and retaining the right human resource personnel, managing time (there were so many decisions that had to be made in so little time), scaling up operations, unwillingness to push ourselves beyond comfort zones, stiff competition from already-established companies, ineffective management and lack of good mentors.
It’s important to note that these setbacks were not unique to our company. Nearly all startups face challenges of worse magnitude when starting out.
To overcome the challenges, we went back to the drawing board and started doing everything meticulously. We also sought the services of one of the world’s best management consultants, and they guided us in the restructuring process.

At the initial stages, we had just a handful of clients and could only afford to employ a few members of staff. The generated revenue would take care of the operating expenses, and the amount left over was nothing to write home about.
Over the years, C3 Documentation Services has undergone tremendous growth and expansion. Today, we handle so many clients that we are sometimes forced to hire additional employees on contract basis.
We generate lots of profit, and after taking care of the operating expenses and investing some of the money back into the business, we’re still left with significant amounts.
The growth and expansion has enabled us attract and retain some of the most talented and sought-after employees in the industry. We have also expanded our operations beyond geographical borders.
